The ancient market of Romford has developed out of all recognition. It was once a quite country town detached from the capital in western Essex that only came alive on market days. The market is still there and is now over 750 years old, although much has changed - for example no longer do cattle come to market! Whilst its heart is still in Essex, Romford is now the epicenter of the London Borough of Havering and it has become a thriving shopping centre with dozens of coffee shops and restaurants.
